Notes |
- St. Paul's Parish in New Kent County, VA (later Hanover County) was part of the Church of England, the only official church in the Colony of Virginia. All marriages at that time had to be performed by the Church of England or they were not considered legal. After the American Revolution this church became the Episcolap Church.
A member of the St. Paul's Parish at that same time was Abraham Cooke, father to Frances Cooke. Abraham Cooke is mentioned in the St. Paul's Vestry Book, page 23 and also Edward Garland - a church Warden - is mentioned repeatedly.
