- Second wife Elizabeth Anna Sims was a first cousin of his. Their children had the same grandfather (Beverly H.) from both sides of their family lines. Her dad and his dad were brothers.
According to Kenneth Sims, Annie (2nd wife) was said to have not had much use for the children by the first marriage and is said to have refused to raise them. A family tradition suggests that Hester's brother (Thomas Benton Cornelius) took them.
Obituary was printed February 3, 1855 in the Southern Democrat Newspaper in Oneonta, AL. He was listed as Tom Sims, aged 65.
