Jesse was a contractor who built and then operated an apartment building near Springfield, MO, and served on the Board of Directors of Farmers and Merchants Bank. He was a member, trusteee, and steward of the St. Paul Methodist Church. He bought the farm that had been his father's in Morrisville and converted it into a pleasure resort near a natural spring.
