  Raymond Bruce thinks that the Fergusons went to Alabama first, and Silas and his wife followed them. Per Raymond Bruce in 2005: Lawrence County, AL: Deed Record Book M-124 (Probate Court) Silas Bruce and Wife Mary Bruce sold to Spartan H. Bruce SE 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Sec 36, T7, R6 (40 23/100 A) for $52 December 30, 1847. Probate Book H (Orphan's Court) 168, 169 This indenture made and entered into this first day of May, 1838 between Silas and wife Mary Bruce of Lawrence County, AL and Nancy E. Kitchen of Lawrence County, AL. Silas and Mary sold land for $104 (SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 of Sec 12, T8, R6) totaling 39.94 acres in the Huntsville district. Recorded 13 October 1838 by Wiley Galloway, Clerk.
