Edward Bruce married to Amanda, with married daughter Anstis Sims AL/Chilton County/Precinct 4. Did not find Benjamin Harrison Sims, husband of Anstis. He was already discharged from WWI and I don't know why he was not living in Clanton with Anstis.
Jamile has a copy of a letter (original in Clanton house) dated February 16, 1915 to Mr. S. E. Bruce, Clanton, AL "Dear Sir: Enclosed check fo4 $.65 to cover charge on carnations, postage, etc. Thanks. Please send one dozen mixed carnations to Mrs. G. W. Woodward, Prattville. I enclose stamps for postage and special delivery on them. Enclosed my check for $.50 to cover cost of flowers. I wish these to reach Prattville on the morning of Thursday, February 18th. Thanking you for your kind attention to past order, as well as this one, I am Very truly yours, (Miss) Charlotte Woodward.
Jamile has an original business card that says: S. E. Bruce, Carnation Grower, Clanton, Ala.
Jamile has original obituary from an unknown newspaper. Small obit was found in the old Bruce/Sims house in Clanton during a trip in May 2006.
S. E. BRUCE DIES Pneumonia Attack Fatal To Widely Known Clanton Resident
CLANTON, Ala. - Funeral services for S. E. Bruce, well-known resident of Clanton, who died at his home here Tuesday night following an illness of pneumonia, were held Thursday from the Clanton Baptist Church with Dr. S. J. Ezell officiating.
Mr. Bruce had lived the entire 69 years of his life in this community and was widely known. He is survived by one son, Homer Bruce, and two daughters, Mrs. Ben Sims and Mrs. Ida Huff, all of Clanton.
Grandson Harry Sims said that Ed lost all his money on cotton purchases. "Bought high and sold low."
